THE EVOLUTION OF RHINOPLASTTY
In the past rhinoplasty was more about making the nose larger or smaller rather than refining its appearance.
As the procedure evolved and surgeons learned how to reshape the nasal tip , it was not uncommon for doctors to create a similar look for all their patients, so that one could guess from the results of the surgery exactly which doctor had performed the operation.
It was only in due course of time that preserving the individuality of the nose in harmony with the facial features was recognized.
“It’s like bringing out a beautiful face and not a signature nose of the operating surgeon” say Dr Satya Saraswat. In most instances , rhinoplasty isn’t about drastic changes, instead, it is about enhancing the natural contours of the nose. “The goal is to make the nose blend harmoniously with the rest of the face. Rhinoplasty is, ideally, the refinement of the nose” he says.
